Vinci's Reliquary Page
43 TOO MUCH FUN!!
These may not be new to you, but they're new to me! My customer, Joyce Laux, sent me a piece of artwork in which she used them, and I shouted "WHAT the HECK are THOSE??!!" They're cardboard ALPHABET stencils, what a perfect thing to go along with the Ma Vinci line! Since seeing them for the first time, I'm noticing them all over the place now, they're awesome! You can use them IN your work, you can build your work around them, and hey, you can even STENCIL with them! These are fun, Fun, FUN!
Have a look at Joyce's work, you'll see what I mean! Here she's "aged" them to make them look like rusted tin, I love them!
Here, the stencil has been painted black and smudged with paint or ink. I love the effect of the book page showing through!
And look what she's done with a BIG stencil, it makes the whole page! It's got paint, stamping, stuff collaged onto it, it's beautiful!
This one's painted a pretty pink, stamped and embellished!
Look, a brand new envelope, from Sue Giduck! She always decorates her envelopes to me, what a wonderful thing to find in my mailbox!
And look what Chris Peden sent, an Altoids tin collage with a small letter A in it! A is for Awesome! It's been stamped on, it looks like, too!
Look a gorgeous card from Patti Sandham, it uses stencils AND a Mona!
Here's another beautiful collage piece by Karenann Young, she's painted and stamped on the stencil, too! I just LOVE the look!!
And look, what did I tell you? You can actually use these as STENCILS! Nicole Gartland stenciled the word TRUST on this scrapbook page, it's cool! And she says once she's used them to stencil several times and they're covered with paint and ink, THEN she'll use them in a collage, a great idea!
Here's a beautiful one I just got from Pilar Pollock! It's an altered book page, and she's used the stencils AS stencils, I love it!
Sheesh, I'll even show you a piece that I made myself (I think this is a first here!) It's a birthday card I made, the first thing I've made in YEARS, I just HAD to play with them! I painted on 'em, then stamped them, fun!
What makes these so excellent is that they're CARDBOARD, you can paint 'em, cut 'em, tear 'em, stamp on 'em, whatever you want, PERFECT for collage! The cardboard is as you see in the scan up top, but it can be painted or dyed any color or colors you like, stamped, whatever!! The possibilities are endless, I'm so excited to have found them! I'd love to see them used as doll bodies, ornaments, in shrines! (OH! And don't forget you can use the little letter parts you punch out of the stencils, too!) The bigger ones would make excellent book pages! They come packaged as complete alphabet (upper case only) with numbers and some punctuation, with an extra A, E, O, R and S in each package (except for the 1/2" size, which for some reason doesn't include those extra letters). VERY affordable, and a size for ANY project! I've started with 6 different sizes (they're all the same style, as shown above), to see how everyone likes them, and can add bigger ones too if the demand is there! These come in blister packs, but I'll probably take them out of those and ship them in ziploc bags to make them flatter. ** Size listed is the size of the actual letter, and as you can see, the cardboard extends around the letter on all sides ** I am currently OUT of the 1/2" stencils, and don't yet have any more on order. I'll put the ordering button back up when there are more here! Sorry for the inconvenience!
